Setting up your camera:

 Voice Lessons:

For your lessons you should be standing up just as if we were in person. Place your computer or tablet up higher than normal (either on a bookshelf or stack of books) so the angle is straight on. I need to see your full torso, as well as your face.

 Piano Lessons:

For your lessons you should be sitting in a chair just as if we were in person. Place your computer or tablet on a bookshelf or chair from the side, not in front of you (otherwise your hands will be backwards to us!). You may have to stack books to get the camera high enough and adjust the camera to a downward angle in order to see your hands and the middle main part of the keyboard. Ideally we want to see your face as well but the hands and keyboard are most important!

 Guitar Lessons:

For your lessons you should be sitting in a chair just as if we were in person. Place your computer or tablet on a table so the angle is straight on. I need to see your full body, as well as your guitar.

Setting up your microphone/audio:

 For all instruments:

Ideally you would have an external microphone. You can find them fairly inexpensive on amazon, at Walmart or BestBuy (here are some recommendations). If you don’t have an external mic, use either the built-in mic in your tablet or laptop. These will be better than the built-in mic in earphones. In your zoom settings under audio, make sure your “automatically adjust mic” is turned off. Headphones are a great tool for online lessons (just make sure they don’t have a mic connected or turn it off during your lesson) if you don’t have good speakers available.

Online Lesson Policies:

Please note that all our studio policies apply to online lessons. If a student is ill or unable to attend a lesson for any reason, 24 hour written notice must be given. If there are any technical issues on the student’s end, please get in touch with your teacher via email or text immediately so we know you are there. If a student has not entered the lesson and has not been in touch with their teacher by 15 minutes into the lesson, the lesson is forfeit. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a makeup lesson due to technical issues on a student’s end. If there are any technical issues on the teacher’s end the lesson will be made up by the end of term.
